The hotels we have recommended for the wedding are in or near Newport, RI. Newport is approximately 20 miles from our wedding at the Meeting House in rustic Tiverton, and is at the center of our other weekend activities. We also chose hotels in the Newport area because of its historical significance, beautiful beaches, and excellent restaurants.
We strongly suggest our guests having cars for the wedding on Sunday because there is no public transportation access to the Meeting House. If you travel to Newport without your own vehicle, it may be possible to get to the wedding using car services, or carpooling. We also plan on getting a shuttle bus that will stop at all of the "room-blocked" hotels and motels (i.e. The Bay Willows, The Best Western and The Ramada).
We appreciate that you are dedicating both your time and money to be a part of our special day. Sharing rides can make the weekend more convenient for you (and also reduces the carbon footprint we have created). We encourage you to make connections and get to know each other. At the bottom of this page, there is a comment section which you may use to organize carpooling.
Here are some ways to get to Newport:
1. By Plane:
* TF Green: Rhode Island's very own airport! Approximately 25 miles from TF Green to Newport, RI. If you are not renting a car, there is a $25 shuttle van service from TF Green to the Newport area. This service runs hourly Friday and Sunday and every two hours on Saturday and Monday.
* Logan: Boston-area airport. Approximately 75 miles from Newport. If you are not renting a car, Peter Pan has bus service. However, there are only 4 or 5 buses per day.
2. By Train:
* Amtrak: For our New York friends, Amtrak is a great way to get up to the Rhode Island area. It takes approximately 3 hours from Penn Station to Kingston, RI (Siobhan's hometown, woot woot!). There are local car rental options, and also highly limited RIPTA bus service to Newport.
3. By Bus:
* Peter Pan: Interminable bus service is available from downtown Boston and New York City to Newport. Good luck with that! Seriously, it is the cheapest option, and when you (FINALLY) arrive, someone will be there to greet you personally with a cocktail.
Shuttle Bus Info:
We have rented a shuttle bus that will pick up guests on Sunday at all of the "room-blocked' hotels. (See more info about the hotels on our Hotel Page)
The Shuttle Bus schedule is as follows:
3:15- pick up at the Best Western (bus will leave at 3:25pm)
3:30--pick up at the Bay Willow (bus will leave at 3:40pm)
3:45--pick up at the Ramada (bus will leave at 3:55pm)
Hi! We hope you will use this section to organize carpooling. There is one carpooling offer already up, over on the home page--we just hadn't figured out how to get the comments section on the transportation tab working yet.
ReplyDeleteSo looking forward to seeing you all!
